Rayagada: The government railway police (GRP) on Tuesday rescued five minors from Rayagada railway station on Tuesday evening.
According to police sources, raids were carried out at the station basing on information about some children being trafficked to Chennai. The children, all natives of Thuamul-Rampur block in Kalahandi district, were handed over to Childline officials.
Efforts are on to nab the traffickers, who managed to escape from the spot during the raid, a police officer said.
On June 28, nine minor girls were rescued from Rayagada station by the volunteers of Childline and railway protection force (RPF). Most of the children were residents of Kolnara and Ramanguda blocks in the district. They were being taken to Andhra Pradesh to work in a factory.
