Bhubaneswar: The Odisha capital saw 2,453 samples being tested for COVID-19 with a total of 40,711 tests being conducted across Odisha on Thursday.
To increase awareness about testing and the COVID-19 situation, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has added five more vehicles to its entourage of information, education and communication (IEC) activity.
The 10 vehicles are playing loud slogans on COVID-19 and branding for ‘Mo Sapatha, Nua Abhyasa’ to popularise preventive practices like use of masks while going out, maintaining social distancing, frequenting washing of hands with soap and no spitting at public places.
Two vehicles each will be placed at each of the administrative zones, two will be placed at the Central office at Gautam Nagar and two exclusively used at major markets of the city for the awareness activity, the BMC sources said.
It may be mentioned here that the civic body has already started community-based activities like engaging Ward Sachetak Committees, Slum Committees, Resident Welfare Associations, Puja Committees and public sector organisations to come forward and contribute towards the fight against the COVID-19.
Meanhile, the total infection in the capital city rises to 4595 after the detection of the second-highest single-day spike of 237 COVID-19 cases. With 23 deaths and 3015 recoveries, Bhubaneswar now has 1551 active cases.
