Kolkata: Five youths from Odisha were killed and three injured in a road accident on the outskirts of Kolkata in West Bengal early on Wednesday.
Sources said the youths from Bhadrak and Jajpur districts had gone to attend a marriage ceremony in Kolkata. They were coming back home after the function when the driver of their vehicle lost control and collided head-on with a truck near the toll gate at Dhulagarh on Howrah-Jangalpur road.
Five youths died on the spot. The other three were taken to a government hospital at Dhulagarh with serious injuries. Their condition is stated to be critical.
