Jharsuguda: Five members of a family were hospitalised in a critical condition after they allegedly attempted suicide by consuming phenyl at Lahandabuda under BTM police limits in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district on Monday night.
Police rushed the woman, her son and three daughters to Jharsuguda district headquarters hospital with the help of the neighbours. However, the son was later shifted to the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla as her condition deteriorated.
Meanwhile, one of the daughters, after regaining conscious at the district headquarters hospital in Jharsuguda on Tuesday, told the police that they had decided to take the extreme step after her younger brother Dipak Biswal, who was bed-ridden after sustaining critical injuries in a road accident in 2018, died last evening.
