Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: Five eminent Odias have been selected to receive Padma Shri this year.
Prabhakar Maharana has been selected for Art-Sculpture, Gobardhan Panika for Art-Weaving, Chandrasekhar Rath for Literature and Education, Sisir Mishra For Art-Cinema and Bhabani Charan Patnaik for Public Affairs.
Padma Shri is the fourth highest civilian award in India and awarded for distinguished service in any field.
The list of 2018 Padma Awards conferred in three categories, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri, was announced by the Home Ministry on Thursday. Music director Ilaiyaraaja, cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni and senior Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh ideologue P Parameswaran are among the 85 personalities selected for the honours.
