Cuttack: Director General of Police (DGP) B K Sharma on Friday dismissed an inspector for remaining unauthorizedly absent from duty for more than five years.
The dismissed officer was identified as Prafulla Kumar Sahu. He was fired from service as per the Service Code Act 72 (2), a release stated.
On July 2011, Sahu was relieved from Keonjhar and had to join his new posting in Balangir. However, he did not turn up on the plea of sickness but failed to provide any supporting document of his medical treatment, the release further said.
Sahu had also ignored the showcause notices served to him from time to time. He also did not appear before the CDMO of district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Balangir for medical examination, it added.
Besides long absence from duty, the inspector has been accused of gross misconduct, dereliction of duty and disobedience of orders.
