Berhampur: Heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours triggered flash floods, wreaking havoc in most parts of Ganjam district on Sunday.
There has been large-scale displacement of people in Bhastapada village as water from Dhanei River entered houses, forcing nearly 25 families to take shelter in a nearby school building.
Similar was the condition in Aska and Kabisuryanagar after a bridge near Budhaamba submerged. As a result, communication between Budhaamba and Berhampur has been completely disrupted.
On the other hand, strong winds damaged hundreds of trees at Ghurajibhata village and its nearby places in Nuapada district this afternoon.
Movement of vehicles was disrupted for several hours as broken branches of roadside trees fell on many important roads in the locality.
Electric poles were also uprooted in the storm, hitting power supply to various places.
