Bhubaneswar: The handloom weavers and handicraft artisans of Odisha are set for a big market exposure with the state government tying up with e-commerce platform Flipkart.
According to official sources, the partnership has been signed between the State Institute for Development of Arts and Crafts (SIDAC) and the Flipkart. The online marketing giant will showcase the products of renowned Odisha brands like Boyanika, Utkalika and Sambalpuri Bastralaya.
“With the help of the Flipkart, artisans in remote areas of Odisha will now be able to market their products to consumers across the country. The partnership will also help them gain valuable knowledge about branding, digital marketing and financial management while showcasing the local heritage and hallmark products,” a news agency quoted additional secretary, Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Department KC Sahoo.
Flipkart Group chief corporate affairs officer Rajneesh Kumar said it was a pleasure on their part to join hands with the state government to provide Odisha’s artisans and weavers a chance to fulfil their ambitions and expand the company’s business.
