Bhubaneswar: A flood-like situation due to heavy rainfall, triggered by Cyclone Dana, prevailed in three districts of Odisha.
According to sources, 10 villages in Nilagiri block of Balasore district have been affected by flash flood in Son river. The villages have been inundated and cut off from the mainland.
The communication between Begunia and Totapada has been cut off as the road connecting the areas has been washed away due to the flash flood.
Budhabalanga river is also in spate due to the heavy rain. Several riverside villages under Betanati block of Mayurbhanj were facing flood-like situation as the water from the overflowing river has entered several acre of farmland.
Engineer-in-Chief of the Water Resource Department CS Padhi said the water level of the river was below the danger mark, but it remained above the warning signal.
Similarly, the heavy rain led to waterlogging of many villages in Dhamnagar area of Bhadrak district. Kapali and Reba rivers are in a spate and water is flowing above three feet on Bhadrak-Aradi main road.
While the communication on State Highway 35 has been disrupted with water flowing over the road, several low-lying areas have been waterlogged and crops damaged.
