Kendrapada/Jajpur: More than 55 villages of 11 panchayats were flooded with Kani river swelling near Aul in Kendrapada district on Sunday.
Large swathes of farm land have been submerged and road communication badly affected with flood water flowing over several rural roads at Bhuinpur-Singhapur and Manapuragada areas in the district.
In Jajpur district, over 10 panchayats have been cut-off and 40 villages inundated. The flood has affected nearly 22,000 people and 1,600 among them have already been shifted to safer places.
Besides, four panchayats in the district have submerged owing to an embankment breach in Brahmani and Bankasahi rivers.
ODRAF teams have already been deployed in Bari and Binjharpur blocks to tackle any untoward situation.
The district administration has set up free kitchens at several flood-affected areas of the district and providing cooked food to the victims.
