Flash Flood Situation Improves In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The flash flood situation in South Odisha has improved with the water level of most rivers and their tributaries receding.
In Kalahandi district, Hati and Tel rivers are flowing under the danger mark. Fire brigade personnel rescued a person from the Bansadhara river in Lanjigarh on Wednesday. In Bhawanipatna town, the low-lying areas remained inundated with rainwater making life miserable for the people.

In Balasore district, more than 10,000 hectares of paddy fields in 15 villages of Baliapal block were submerged after high sea tide entered the Subarnarekha river on Tuesday.

Following the incident, the state government asked the district collector to stay on alert to meet any eventuality.

As predicted by the local Met office here, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to lash most parts of North Odisha for three days from July 21. There is a possibility of flood in Budhabalang, Subarnarekha, Brahmani, Baitarani and Mahanadi rivers with heavy downpour in the upper catchment areas of these rivers.
