Rayagada/Kalahandi: Several area in Rayagada and Kalahandi districts continued to remain under water on Tuesday owing to flash floods triggered by rain fury that led to swelling of rivers in the past two days.
“The flood situation in several parts of these districts is improving. Dornier aircraft have been sent to assess the situation in two cut-off villages near Niyamgiri,” said Special Relief Commissioner Bishnupada Sethy.
Flash floods have severed road communication at several places. Nearly 70 per cent area in Kalyansinghpur block of Rayagada district was flooded, while communication between Nabarangpur and Kalahandi remained cut-off with flood water flowing over a bridge under construction at Dhabasuli.
In Malkangiri district, three overbridges have reportedly been submerged on Kalimela-Motu Road following incessant rain.
