Malkangiri: Incessant rain since Friday has snapped road connectivity between Malkangiri and Balimela with water flowing over a bridge at MV-39.
Hundreds of vehicles were left stranded on either side of the bridge.
Police reached the spot after getting information regarding submergence of the bridge and asked people not to cross it.
This low-level bridge gets submerged with 3 to 4ft of water is flowing over it whenever heavy rain lash the area.
The locals have demanded alternate arrangements to help people reach their respective destinations, besides construction of a high-level bridge to tide over the recurring problem.
Vehicular movement to other areas in the district was also disrupted with rainwater flooding the roads.
The administration has initiated measures to restore normalcy in the worst-affected regions of the district.
