Bengaluru: A passenger, who was flying from Phuket to Bengaluru, was arrested for allegedly trying to conceal drugs in the overhead oxygen mass panel of the aircraft. According to reports, he was travelling in an Air India Express flight on Friday.
He was trying to hide the banned substances that he had bought from Phuket, a TOI report states. As cited in the report, sources claimed when the man was unable to hide the drugs in the overhead panel, he threw some of it in the lav bin.
He was arrested by the Customs officials at the aerobridge when the aircraft landed in Bengaluru around 7 pm. It was not clear, though, if the Customs officials had a prior tip of the alleged smuggling attempt. Meanwhile, the airline spokesperson said it was aware of the ongoing investigation into the case and would support the authorities.
