Kataka: The Lalbagh Police have arrested a food delivery agent for allegedly making obscene gestures and trespassing into a girls’ hostel of Shailabala (SB) Women’s College in Odisha’s Kataka.
The accused has been identified as Rudra Narayan Sahoo alias Bapi, a resident of Kalmachand Bazar area in the city.
According to police sources, the incident occurred late on the night of July 10, near the college hostel. The accused allegedly made inappropriate and obscene gestures toward the female students. He subsequently entered the hostel premises at midnight, creating a state of panic among the residents. Terrified by the intruder, the students immediately brought the matter to the attention of the college authorities.
Following the incident, Principal of the college lodged a formal written complaint at Lalbagh police station on July 15.
“A special team was formed under the Kataka DCP’s direction on basis of a harassment complaint lodged by the college principal. Lalbagh special team successfully tracked down and arrested the accused from Puri on July 16, leveraging CCTV footage and local intelligence. He will be forwarded to court today,” ACP, Zone 2, Girija Chakraborty told the media on Friday.
