Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department Services Made Online In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The state government on Thursday made various services under Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare department online for the benefit of people, particularly the farmers.
Inaugurating the online services through video-conference, chief minister Naveen Patnaik said the government is committed to ensure food security to the people of Odisha. Besides the people covered by the Centre’s National Food Security Act, the state government has included 25 lakh beneficiaries under the state scheme. Food security has been ensured for more than 3.5 crore people in the state, he added.
As per the new provision, application for ration card, registration of farmers for sale of paddy, deposit of dealer’s licence fees and deposit of cost of foodgrains by fair price shops will now be done online. The services can be availed on Citizen Services link of www.foododisha.in.
Stressing on promoting awareness on the new facility, Naveen called for monthly appraisal on the number of beneficiaries.
The chief minister released a book on the steps taken for ensuring food security in the last 20 years, “Making of a Food Secure Odisha” on the occasion.
Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare minister Ranendra Pratap Swain, secretary of the department Veer Vikram Yadav and other senior officers were present.
