New Delhi: How about a relaxing foot or a head massage during a long train journey?
In a first, Railways have decided to offer wellness facilities on board the Puri-Indore Humsafar Express, along with 38 other trains, from this month itself. All that a passenger has to dish out to unwind himself is Rs 100-300.
The service will start with all the trains originating from Indore as the proposal was floated by the Ratlam division of Western Railway to garner additional non-fare revenue under new and innovative idea.
Sharing the details, a senior Railway Board official said the proposal will fetch an additional revenue of up to Rs 1 crore a year.
Professionals are being hired to offer the service. At least 3-4 of them will be travelling on each train to offer the service.
“It will be an on-board service. Like any vendor, the massage vendor will approach passengers. He will be in uniform and carry an I-card and rate list,” a railway spokesperson said.
“If the rollout is a success, we can think of extending it to other trains across the railway network,” he said.
