Puri: A major fire broke out in Pasupalaka forest of Brahmagiri area in Puri on Sunday night.
According to sources, over 20 acres of forest cover was wiped out in the mishap. The locals tried to douse the flames, but in vain.
On being informed, the fire services personnel reached the spot. Efforts are on to stop the fire from spreading further.
Though the reason behind the mishap is yet to be ascertained, several animals are suspected to have been burnt alive in the fire, the sources added.
