Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday apprehended Sanjaya Kumar Bag, a senior assistant in the DFO Territorial office in Khariar Forest Division of Odisha’s Nuapada district, while allegedly accepting Rs 20,000 bribe.
He had allegedly sought the illegal gratification to process the pension paper documents and facilitate release of retirement benefits in favour of the complainant’s sister, who voluntarily retired in 2022. The entire bribe money was seized from his possession, an official release said.
While a case has been registered at Koraput Vigilance police station in this connection under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, simultaneous searches are underway at two locations related to Bag from the disproportionate asset (DA) angle, the release added.
