Angul: A forest guard was trampled to death by an elephant in Kulad village under Banarpal block in Odisha’s Angul on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Sarat Ghadei of Talcher and was working as a forest guard in the Angul forest division.
According to sources, a herd of elephants entered Kulad village late on Thursday night following which the locals informed the forest department to drive them away.
On being informed, forest guard Ghadei along with other forest officials arrived at the village. However, while chasing them away, the wild elephant charged toward the forest staff.
