Nayagarh: Forest officials seized huge quantity of Sal logs stocked illegally in the farmhouse of a social worker in Odisha’s Nayagarh district.
Following reliable information about illegal transportation of wood logs in a village under Daspalla block of the district, an enforcement team of the Forest department conducted a raid on the farmhouse of the social worker on Sunday.
During the raid on the social worker’s properties, the enforcement team found timber and wood logs including some of Sal tree stocked inside the house. They seized the logs and also arrested the caretaker of the farmhouse, identified as Sushant Nayak.
The smuggling of wood logs has been going on in the area for a long time, the reports said adding that that social worker has also encroached a grazing land beside Balangir-Khurda highway.
