Rayagada: A forest official lost his life in a car crash in Odisha’s Rayagada district on late Friday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Chandan Gamang, Forest Ranger of Kalyansinghpur Forest Range under Rayagada Forest Division.
According to sources, the vehicle Gamang was driving veered out of control and collided with a roadside tree near Srirampur village in Kolnara block while he was en route from Kalyansinghpur to his home in Rayagada at around 9 pm. The impact was severe, leaving him critically injured. Local residents pulled Gamang from the wreckage and rushed him to Rayagada district headquarters hospital. However, doctors there declared him dead upon arrival.
