Balangir: A forester was found hanging inside the official quarters of the range office in Odisha’s Balangir district.
The deceased has been identified as Byasadev Sahu (59), who was working as a forester at the Thikadarpada Range in Balangir.
According to information, his colleagues discovered Sahu’s body hanging from the railing of the staff quarters located behind the Range Office on Sunday evening. Police were informed and soon reached the spot.
While police have initiated an investigation into the incident, the circumstances surrounding Sahu’s death are yet to be established.
Meanwhile, Sahu’s family has alleged that pressure from senior officials forced him to take the extreme step. They have demanded a detailed investigation to ascertain exact circumstances surrounding his death.
However, the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Ajit Bisi denied the allegations made by the deceased’s family. He said there was no pressure on Sahu and that no complaint was received regarding this. Sahu was a good worker and was carrying out his work sincerely, he added.
