Lucknow: Former BJP MP and film actress Jaya Prada surrendered in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur court on Monday.
She was declared a fugitive a few days ago as she was considered to be ‘absconding’ in two cases related to violation of Model Code of Conduct.
The 61-year-old actress, who featured in several Hindi, Telugu and Tamil films, failed to appear for a court hearing, despite being served multiple notices and issue of non-bailable warrant (NBW).
The MP/MLA court in Rampur issued CrPC order 82 against her for non-appearance on February 27th even after issuing NBW several times.
Senior Prosecution Officer Amarnath Tiwari said that election code of conduct case was registered against Jaya Prada in 2019.
