Bhubaneswar: Former Biju Janata Dal (BJD) minister and four-time MLA Sanjeeb Kumar Sahoo joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday.
Sahoo formally joined the BJP in the presence of Union Education and Skill Development Minister Dharmendra Pradhan at a function here.
Sahoo had sent his resignation to BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on November 3.
The BJD had denied him a ticket in the 2019 elections. A two-time minister in the BJD government, Sahoo was first elected to the Odisha Assembly from Birmaharajpur in the 2003 bypolls and again in the 2004 general elections.
He was dropped from the ministry in 2012 after the midnight ‘coup’ attempt by Pyari Mohan Mohapatra, the then confidante of Naveen.
