Bhubaneswar: Former Bhadrak MP Manjulata Mandal and her ex-MLA husband Muktikanta Mandal joi
ned the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha along with a large number of supporters on Wednesday.
Their induction into the Lotus party comes over two months after the two quit the Biju Janata Dal (BJD). The Mandal couple had resigned from the BJD on April 26 this year. Before their resignation, the BJD had suspended the two for their alleged involvement in anti-party activities.
The Mandal couple and their supporters joined the BJP in the presence of party’s Odisha unit president and Rajya Sabha MP Manmohan Samal and other senior leaders in Bhubaneswar.
Notably, Manjulata had been elected from the Bhadrak Lok Sabha constituency on a BJD ticket in 2019, while Muktikanta had won the Dhamnagar Assembly seat in 2014.
