Bhubaneswar: Former BJP legislator of Mayurbhanj district Laxman Soren and his wife Deola Soren joined Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Sunday.
Soren and his wife were welcomed to the BJD by its organisational secretary Pranab Prakash Das at the party office in the city. Along with Soren couple, around 50 BJP workers joined the ruling party in the state.
Deola Soren is the sarpanch of Jashipur in Mayurbhanj district, while Laxman Soren was elected to the Assembly on BJP ticket from Bahalda constituency in 2000.
In 2004 Assembly election, Laxman left BJP after being denied ticket and contested as Congress candidate. After losing the election, he had returned to BJP.
