Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Majhi and BJP state president Manmohan Samal paid their last respects to former Baliguda MLA Karendra Majhi, who breathed his last while undergoing treatment for kidney-related ailments at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, late on Sunday.
He was 52.
Karendra was a prominent leader from the Kutia Kondh community and was the first postgraduate from his community. He won the elections to Odisha Assembly from Baliguda in Kandhamal district in 2004 and 2009.
He has also authored three books in Kui language.
According to reports, his mortal remains will be taken to the Odisha Legislative Assembly on Monday morning and then to the state BJP office, where leaders and dignitaries will pay their last respects.
The CM is also scheduled to visit the BJP office.
