New Delhi: Former chief minister of Chhattisgarh Ajit Jogi passed away on Friday. He was 74.
Jogi was under treatment at a hospital in Raipur after he suffered cardiac arrest on May 9. After his condition deteriorated a few days back, he was put on ventilator support, said his son Amit Jogi.
Ajit Jogi was the first chief minister of Chhattisgarh after its formation from Madhya Pradesh in 2000. A bureaucrat-turned politician, Jogi was elected as Congress candidate.
Jogi remained in power from November, 2000 to November, 2003. He resigned from the Congress and formed his own party Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (J) in 2016.
He was the incumbent MLA from Marwahi constituency.
