Hyderabad: Former cricketer Ambati Rayudu on Saturday announced his decision to quit Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), just eight days after joining the party.
Without revealing the reason behind his abrupt decision, Rayudu said he would convey his next move in due course of time. “This is to inform everyone that I have decided to quit the YSRCP Party and stay out of politics for a little while. Further action will be conveyed in due course of time,” he posted on X.
A native of Guntur, Rayudu retired from international cricket in July 2019 and from the Indian Premier League in May 2023. He revealed his plans to join politics in June last year while touring the rural areas of Guntur.
The wicketkeeper-batter joined YSRCP on December 28, two days after Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy launched a 45-day sports festival ‘Adudham Andhra’ (Let’s play Andhra). He, however, didn’t take part in the sports festival for undisclosed reasons.
