Cuttack: The Special Vigilance Court, Cuttack on Wednesday convicted former DSP, Home Guard, Sambalpur Srikanta Kumar Mishra in disproportionate assets case and sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for two years.
The Vigilance had filed the case against Mishra under Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 in 2006. During the raids of Vigilance sleuths, Mishra was found in possession of disproportionate assets worth Rs 19,20,284.
Besides sentencing the former DSP to 2-year RI, the court has imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 and in default of payment of the fine, ordered him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a further period of 6 months.
