Phulbani: The Vigilance court here on Friday sentenced a former head-master of a school to rigorous imprisonment for misappropriation of government money amounting to over Rs 8.96 lakh.
The court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Phulbani convicted Simanchal Nayak, former head-master of Gumakia Project Upper Primary School in Baliguda block of Kandhamal district for misappropriation of money without execution of school building.
The court sentenced Nayak to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 4 years and pay fine of Rs six lakh and in default, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 1 year. Besides, Nayak was ordered to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 3 years and pay fine of Rs 10 thousand) in another count. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.
