Former CM of Himachal Pradesh Virbhadra Singh passes away
Shimla: Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Virbhadra Singh breathed his last at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) here early on Thursday after prolonged illness. He was 87.
Senior medical superintendent of IGMC Dr Janak Raj said the Congress leader passed away at 3.40 am.
Singh suffered a heart attack on Monday and was admitted to the critical care unit of the IGMC.
He had tested positive for COVID-19 on June 11 for the second time in two months. He had earlier contracted the virus on April 12.
A nine-time MLA and five-time MP, Singh served as Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh for six times.
