Bhubaneswar: Niharkanta Kabi, former Professor of History at Utkal University, passed away at his residence here on October 10. He was 82. He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
Prof Kabi, who served the university for around three decades, died of cardiac arrest, family sources said.
Born at Rairangpur in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on May 17, 1941, Prof Kabi was a good student and completed MA in History from Utkal University. Subsequently, he joined university as a faculty member and continued till his superannuation in 2001.
He earned respect from fellow academicians and affection from students for his teaching and affable nature.
