Former IAS Officer Durga Charan Sahoo Passes Away In Bhubaneswar



Bhubaneswar: Noted writer and former bureaucrat Durga Charan Sahoo passed away in Bhubaneswar following a brief illness. He was 76.

After spending over 35 years outside Odisha during his distinguished career as a bureaucrat, Sahoo returned to his home state and worked relentlessly for the promotion of Odia literature and culture.

An alumnus of Utkal University, he spent most of his service period in Goa, apart from postings in Arunachal Pradesh and Puducherry.

Known for his versatility and unique writing skills, the former bureaucrat had authored many books on sociology in Odia language for students of undergraduate courses.

His intense love for Odia literature and culture kept him closely associated with a number of socio-cultural organisations working for the promotion of Odisha’s rich heritage and art forms.

Sahoo was a member of the advisory committee of Shree Jagannath Pala Research Foundation and an active participant of the functioning of Saraswat Samilani. Watching Odia Pala was his big hobby.
