Jharsuguda: Senior advocate and former president of Jharsuguda Bar Association Trinath Gual was found dead under mysterious circumstances near the railway tracks at Balijuri in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district on Tuesday morning.
According to sources, locals spotted the body around 7:30 am. A police team along with Jharsuguda SP Gundala Reddy Raghavendra rushed to the spot on receiving information and identified the deceased as Gual. Cash amounting to Rs 1,000 and some official documents were reportedly
recovered from the scene.
It is suspected that he might have jumped in front of the Rourkela-Koraput Express train. The Government Railway Police (GRP) have recovered a purported suicide note from the spot, stating that no one is responsible for the death.
Family members, however, have rejected the possibility of death by suicide. They pointed out that Gual had followed his usual morning walk routine but his mobile phone was found switched off, raising immediate concerns. A relative later informed them about an unidentified person resembling Gual lying near the tracks. They have demanded a thorough, impartial investigation, alleging a possible conspiracy behind the incident.
Police have initiated a detailed investigation from all angles, and the body has been sent to district headquarters hospital here for postmortem.
Gual was widely respected in legal circles and actively involved in various social, cultural, and welfare organizations across Jharsuguda and western Odisha. Members of the Jharsuguda Bar Association expressed profound grief, describing his death as an irreparable loss to the legal fraternity and the community.
