Former Karnataka Top Cop Murder: Wife Struggling With Schizophrenia Stabbed Him, Claims Son

Bengaluru: Shocking developments have surfaced in the murder of former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash, who was found dead at his residence in Bengaluru. According to media reports, his wife, Pallavi, called the police control room 112, after the incident and allegedly confessed to committing the murder. Pallavi threw chilli powder on his face during a heated argument before stabbing him multiple times with a knife, reports quoting police sources claimed.

Om Prakash was found lying in a pool of blood on the ground floor of their three-storey residence. The 68-year-old retired officer hailed from Champaran in Bihar and was Karnataka’s DGP from 2015 until his retirement.

Murder Followed Years of Mental Health Struggles, claims FIR lodged by son

Pallavi, now the prime suspect, has a documented history of schizophrenia and has been undergoing treatment for the past 12 years, according to her son Kartik. In his FIR, Kartik claimed his mother was often delusional and frequently imagined threats from Om Prakash, even alleging that he threatened her with a firearm.

Following the brutal stabbing, Pallavi reportedly made a video call to a friend—wife of another ex-DGP—saying, “I’ve killed the monster.”

Property Dispute May Have Triggered the Attack

Investigators are also looking into a property dispute involving land in Dandeli, Karnataka. A few months ago, Pallavi had tried to lodge a complaint at the local police station but was turned away, prompting her to stage a sit-in protest outside.

Both Pallavi and the couple’s daughter Kruti have been detained for questioning. The police said multiple stab wounds were found on Om Prakash’s neck and abdomen.

Police Await Forensic Clarity

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda said a detailed investigation is underway to determine the motive. “The case appears to be internal in nature, and we’re examining all angles,” he said.

Autopsy reports are awaited as police continue to interrogate family members and gather forensic evidence.
