Keonjhar: Former BJD president of Odisha’s Keonjhar district Rabindra Kumar Das along with his supporters joined BJP on Thursday.
Das, who is also the first chairman of Joda Municipality in the district, accompanied by district vice-president of BJD Mahendra Kumar Mohapatra and hundreds of supporters came to the BJP headquarters in Bhubaneswar on the day.
They were officially inducted into the party at a function and welcomed by former state president of BJP Sameer Mohanty. State secretary of the saffron party Saroj Kar, executive members and other leaders were present on the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohanty said BJD leaders and workers are joining BJP in large number due to corrupt practices of the ruling party leaders and influence of mining mafia on them.
“The people of Odisha have seen through the false propaganda of the BJD. They will vote the ruling party out of power in the elections and a BJP government will be installed in the state,” Mohanty said.
