New Delhi: A former model was killed under suspicious circumstances at a hotel in Gurugram, police said.
The 27-year-old woman, identified as Divya Pahuja, was allegedly murdered by Abhijeet Singh, the owner of City Point Hotel where the crime took place.
Abhijeet and his accomplices allegedly committed the murder and paid some men Rs 10 lakh to dispose of Divya’s body, reported India Today.
The incident, caught on CCTV, showed Divya’s body being dumped in the dickey of a blue BMW before Abhijeet and other suspects flee the hotel.
Camera footage revealed Abhijeet, Divya and another person arriving at the hotel reception on January 2 and proceeding to room No. 111.
Later that night, Abhijeet and others were seen dragging Divya’s body wrapped in a sheet.
Divya’s family lodged a complaint, based on which Abhijeet and others have been booked.
Gurugram Police have launched an inquiry. Several teams from the Crime Branch are conducting raids in Punjab and other areas to locate the body and arrest the accused.
Divya, for the record, is the prime accused in gangster Sandeep Gadoli encounter case of 2016. Gadoli, who was in a relationship with Divya at one stage, was killed in a controversial encounter in Mumbai 8 years ago.
Divya, her mother and five police personnel were booked for the murder of Gadoli on February 6, 2016 at a Mumbai hotel. The former model, arrested in 2016, was granted bail by Bombay High Court in June 2023.
Divya’s family has alleged that Gadoli’s sister Sudesh Kataria and brother Brahm Prakash plotted her murder in collusion with Abhijeet.
