Berhampur: Bollywood actor and former BJD MP of Berhampur Siddhant Mahapatra, who has been active in his constituency for a couple of months, participated in Thakurani Yatra in the city on Monday.
Siddhant performed puja and offered prasad to the deity. He also interacted with the devotees and his followers during the yatra.
Speaking to media persons after participating in the yatra, the former MP said, “I had restricted my visit to Berhampur after COVID pandemic during 2019 and concentrated on my film career. As the pandemic is under control to some extent, I am visiting the city to keep contact with my supporters and workers.”
On being asked whether he would contest on BJD ticket from Berhampur in 2024 elections, he said he is a disciplined worker of the party and would do any work assigned the party president.
“I am maintaining my personal rapport with the supporters and workers during the last few months. I would follow every order of my party. I am not hankering after any post or position in the party. It is upto senior leaders of BJD to decide the task for me,” said Siddhant.
Siddhant was elected twice as Berhampur MP before former Union Minister Chandra Sekhar Sahu joined BJD from Congress and was elected as Berhampur MP in the last election.
