Jharsuguda: The cremation of former chief minister and veteran Congress leader Hemananda Biswal was performed at his native place in the district on Saturday.
His mortal remains were consigned to flames at his native Thakurpada village under Kirmira block of the district.
The State Police offered a guard of honour in presence of Biswal’s family members, several political leaders, Jharsuguda collector and SP. Earlier, Biswal’s body was taken in a procession to the cremation ground.
Biswal passed away due to multi-organ failure while undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
