Cuttack: Former spokesperson of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) Ashok Samal passed away at his residence at Telengabazaar in Odisha’s Cuttack city on Thursday. He was 70.
He was suffering from liver ailment, sources said.
Samal had resigned from Congress protesting against the sidelining of senior leaders and party workers by a ‘coterie’ and joined the BJD in March 2014. He returned to the party fold at a special function in June 2018.
Accusing the AICC-in-Charge for Odisha of not giving proper information to the high command regarding the situation of the party in the state, resulting in gross neglect of leaders and workers, he again quit the grand old party in August 2022.
