Bhubaneswar: Former Congress MLA from Laxmipur (Koraput), Purna Chandra Majhi, passed away while undergoing treatment at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, late on Monday. He was 42.
According to family sources, he had been suffering from liver-related illness and was admitted to the hospital for treatment a few days aho.
Purna Chandra had grabbed headlines by winning the 2008 bypoll following the death of his father and former minister Anantaram Majhi. His is also the brother of Anusaya Majhi, who unsuccessfully contested the 2024 elections from Rayagada Assembly constituency on BJD ticket.
