Bhubaneswar: The son of former Odisha minister Nrusingha Charan Sahu was arrested on Friday on charges of duping Rajya Sabha MP Sujeet Kumar and three others on the promise of providing land plots.
Ajit Sahu, the accused, was nabbed from his home by Nayapalli police after a warrant was issued in the case.
The case dates back to 2024, when the Rajya Sabha MP lodged a complaint against Ajit at Tughlaq Road police station in Delhi. A case was registered by Delhi Police and an investigation launched into the alleged fraud.
The other three victims lodged a separate complaint with the Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar.
Ajit failed to appear before the Patiala House court, despite multiple summons. The court declared him an absconder and issued a warrant against him.
Nayapalli police tracked him in Bhubaneswar and took him into custody.
Ajit’s father Nrusingha had served as Odisha’s Transport minister during Biju Janata Dal (BJD) rule in the state. He had been elected to the Odisha Assembly from Parjanga constituency in Dhenkanal district on BJD tickets thrice, between 2009 and 2019.
