Bhubaneswar: Senior Congress leader and former Odisha MLA Chittaranjan Sarangi resigned from the party ahead of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state.
Sarangi, a former legislator from NIlgiri constituency, resigned from the primary membership of the party alleging misbehaviour by Congress candidate from Balasore Lok Sabha seat Srikant Jena., sources said.
The ex-MLA, who reportedly sent his resignation to the AICC president, announced his decision to contest the upcoming elections from Balasore Lok Sabha constituency.
Sarangi, who was elected from Nilgiri Assembly seat in 1990 as an independent candidate, had joined Congress in 2015.
Srikant Jena, a former Union Minister, was not immediately available to comment on the allegation made by Sarangi.
