Former Odisha MLA Hemendra Mahapatra Passes Away At 92

Sundargarh: Veteran leader and former Odisha MLA Hemendra Prasad Mahapatra passed away passed away on Wednesday following a prolonged illness. He was 92.

Mahapatra, who was suffering from age-related ailments, breathed his last at his residence at Khuntagaon village under Lahunipara block in Sundargarh, family sources said.

Known for his leadership qualities and organising skills, he represented Bonai Assembly constituency for three consecutive terms and worked with utmost sincerity and dedication.

He was elected to the assembly three times in 1961, 1967, and 1971 as a candidate of Swatantra Party. His commitment to the welfare of his people and his contributions to the development of his constituency earned him a special place in the hearts of his constituents.
