Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha MLA Jayanarayan Mohanty passed away on Saturday following a prolonged illness. He was 74.
Mohanty, who had been MLA from Jaleswar in Balasore district, was suffering from multiple ailments for a long time.
The former legislator was admitted to the AIIMS Bhubaneswar in December last year. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the hospital while undergoing treatment, family sources said.
The two-time MLA was a strong Congress leader. He was elected to the state Assembly from Jaleswar twice in 1995 and 2000 Assembly elections. Later, he had joined the BJP in 2019.
