Bhubaneswar: The Centre has appointed former MP and vice-president of BJP Baijayant Panda as the chairman of a high-level expert committee to revamp National Cadet Corps (NCC).
The 15-member committee, constituted by the Ministry of Defence (MoD), will suggest measures to empower NCC cadets to contribute more effectively towards nation building and national developmental efforts in various sectors.
The committee will also propose ways for engaging former NCC cadets in its improvement and recommend best practices of similar international youth organisations.
The members of the committee include Mahendra Singh Dhoni, former Indian cricket team captain; Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group; Col (Retd) Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, MP and Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, MP.
