Former Odisha Officer’s Assets Worth Rs 1.07 Cr Confiscated After Conviction In Vigilance Case

Bhubaneswar: A Special Court in Bhubaneswar on Monday ordered confiscation of assets worth Rs 1.07 crore of a retired Soil Conservation Officer (SCO), who has been convicted in a graft case slapped by Odisha Vigilance.

The former SCO, identified as Dasarathi Tripathy, was posted in Malkangiri district.

The Authorised Officer at the Special Court, Bhubaneswar ordered confiscation of assets worth Rs.1, 07, 66, 430 of Tripathy, who was charge-sheeted by Vigilance in a disproportionate assets case and convicted by the Court, an official release said.

Tripathy was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case U/s 13(2)r/w13(1)(e) of PC Act, 1988 for possession of disproportionate assets.

He was convicted by Special Judge, Special Court, Bhubaneswar on July 24, 2019.

Assets of Tripathy confiscated by the Court include immovable assets – iand measuring approx. 3600 Sqft at Batamangala in Puri, land measuring 126 dcml at Mouza-Janla, Bhubaneswar and another GA plot of 2400 Sqft at Bharatpur in Bhubaneswar and movable assets (Bank, Postal & LIC deposits).

G.B. Pati, Ex-DSP, Vigilance, Cell Division, Cuttack Division had investigated the case and Manas Ranjan Mishra, Special Public Prosecutor, Court of Authorised Officer, Special Court, Bhubaneswar was conducting the case on behalf of the Vigilance.

Following conviction of Tripathy, Vigilance had communicated to the competent authority to take appropriate action against him. Based upon this, Tripathy was imposed with penalty of withholding of full pension & gratuity permanently by the competent authority.

In all DA cases against senior ranks, Vigilance is simultaneously launching confiscation proceedings in Special Courts established for the purpose, for confiscation of their properties.
