Bhubaneswar: Naba Kishore Rath, former Engineer-in-Chief-cum-Secretary, Works, Odisha government, breathed his last at his residence in Laxmi Sagar on Monday evening. He was 82.
Rath, survived by his wife, three sons and three daughters-in-law, was cremated at Puri’s Swargadwar on Tuesday evening.
Having graduated in civil engineering from Patna Engineering College in 1960, Rath began his career as SDO-PWD, Puri. He then served as assistant engineer at Aviation Research Centre, Charbatia. Promoted as executive engineer, he was posted with Family Planning, OUAT, and Capital Constructions.
As superintending engineer, design and planning, PWD, Rath was the man behind ‘Nirman Soudha’ in Bhubaneswar.
He served as engineer member, Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and Managing Director of Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation Ltd before becoming Chief Engineer, Roads.
He retired as Engineer-In-Chief-Cum-Secretary, Works, in 1997.
Rath was a member of the technical committee of Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri, for conservation and renovation work, which was constituted by ASI in 2006.
